good mastering / dither chain result

Recording at asio 24 bit in cubase 5, i used to just master in vdat at 16 bit, ....i tried outting instead to softclip-dither-graphic eq-optimaster, then recorded at 16 bit vdat and Wow what a difference than strait out (at 24bit), then into the vdat at 16bit, i don't know why, ...but the dithering gave me a way cleaner signal (the softclip might of done something too).....more depth and clarity in the mixdown
