I saw that too a couple weeks ago, but only on one day (August 11). I contacted the ISP and they killed some gigantic spider queries that were running.

I haven't seen it since, so thanks for letting me know. If anyone else sees this, please post here. If it seems like a common recurrence, I'll complain to the ISP again. Maybe they need to bump up our max connections. Or we need to find away to throttle the bots...

Interesting... I thought I posted here this morning, but I don't see my post now.

I had reported that the forums were clobbered somehow, and I had notified the ISP (who fixed it this morning).

These problems started with the upgrade to phpbb 3.

We're not the only ones:
http://www.phpbb.com/bugs/phpbb3/ticket ... t_id=20955

I'm not sure of the solution yet...

One of my gear bbs had PHP changed to v5 - it messed up phpBB2 big time. They supposedly did that without notification :x I'm glad I'm done supporting that particular board.

I feel your pain.

Ugh, another whole weekend lost to this error. Sorry for the downtime.
At the time of failure, there are queries running stuck somehow for hours and hours and hours.
As a workaround, I'm going to write a script to periodically run, check for long-running queries, and kill them.

Bug in phpbb3, but the phpbb team seems in denial about it. We never had any issues with phpbb2.

Hopefully this will be an improvement...
