Robben has recovered, apparently, and is expected to make an appearance tonight (though whether he's starting or not, I don't know).

France will apparently be employing a defend/counter-attack strategy, so it should be interesting (that's basically where Italy went wrong — they were all to happy not to have possession for some spells, and that's when we scored).

I think, like the Italy game, it will be won or lost in the midfield.

HaHa - Come on Holland!

Seeing as England are crap and didnt qualify - Ive been supporting Holland and watching them thrash France was mighty satisfying. Although I have spain in the sweepstake at work - I hope Holland win.

They scored some corkers dont you think?
There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. These are things we don't know we don't know.

Holland played beautifully, fantastic team.

I might be biased, but the way Italy has been treated today in the game against Romania left me speechless. That referee is a shame. You can admit one heavy error, but in this case it has been a flood. Foolish. Hard not to think bad.

Something wrong with football in general.
  • Why can't they stopthe clock (instead of the stupid stop time)
Why cant they use video - or at least 2 referees
2 linesmen to watch one ball
1 referee to watch 22 players
By the way, was a "northern" referee you are pointing at?
On TV they told it was the linesmans fault - stupid and commond error

Holland best so fare, by a large margin

Yes stardust , it must be special for big events.
During a full season this strange things turns both ways.

During championchips, there should been video referees speaking to the referee, giving yellow card, red card, offside etc and restart the match from that poin, like in icehockey.

I know it will not be done, football is popular because you can argue everything :-)

to be honest, i think a lot of the fun with football would dissappear with video usage. Just think of all the debates going around cafe-tables, pubs etc.
If it all gets too clinical i think a lot of the exitement is gone.

The referee was right not to give the offside decision to v Nistelrooy's goal,

An Italian defender had stepped off the pitch because he hurt himself, and was therefore still in play according to some obscure offside rule clause - even if most players and fans aren't even aware of that rule!

There's something immensely satisfying about Holland winning a game 4-1.

The memories of the last such scoreline still hurt!

I'm afraid you got it right!

Soccer is not my big obsession, but i have to say this Euro has been very fun to watch so fare.

Will Holland (Spain & Croatia too) do like Portugal, take a break in the last round?

And tonight's game: Netherlands - Russia
If the Netherlands are in the same shape as they have been the last matches, they should win. On the other hand, Russia played surprisingly well the last match. We'll see what happens tonight...
