Global Warming
money is an illusion. it is printed by those in charge. there are only a few in charge. they depend on hypnotism to maintain power. they also depend on people to enforce the reality upon the unbelievers. when people tire of slavery, the fixes are quick and easy.
btw- it was the russians who proved that oil was abiotic first. they used this knowledge to discover deep, seemingly unlimited oilfields that weren't even dreamed of before...that's why the former soviet union is swimming in the stuff currently.

no, hydrogen, oxygen and carbon are the most common elements in the universe. they combine deep in the earth.
a simple explanation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenic_petroleum_origin
if things like methane are fossil fuel, then how come a planet like jupiter is mostly methane?

Of course I was forgeting methane outside Earth.
My chemical knowledge is not deep nor recent and a lot of words in the wikipedia link are out of my English knowledge, so I can't understand it with a simply quick reading. But it clearly ensues that such chemical workings is scientifically accepted, so I've to update my knowledge.
Still have some doubt about times required for abiotic genesis related to oil consumption by human population.
Still don't understand why you admit oil is dirty, but follow to present its use to the bitter end.

Current estimate is based on biogen oilfields; not a great research has done
for abiogen oilfields, so a lot of oil could be there, though in the deep, waiting to be burnt..

ok, but i never said that we should use lots of oil, only that there was no shortage.
methane is just one example of abiotic hydrocarbon, showing the realness of the possibility. another example is synthetic motoroil and gasoline! they make that stuff all the time AND germany ran it's armies on it in ww2.....
just a fine example of how the popular knowledge is false.

bingo, so what? is this the first catastrophic mississippi flood? even without warming do you think it'll be the last? don't build on low ground.....
Cochise-that's my point. if there was an alternative, we'd all use it. people have a right to exist and we're all here now. where are our loving leaders in all this?

people are people...
as a sidenote, not all oil is transformed into gasoline to fuel vehicles, that figure seems to be roughly one tenth globally - just look around you and guess what's not made of plastic fantastic materials
I'd guess that at least 1 third of all diesel is wasted on 'mobile storage' to cut costs on 'just in time' production.
A little more patience that the new harddisk doesn't arrive tomorrow, but next week plus the motivation to pay $5 extra and there's no more need to waste energy and pollute landscapes.
using one's respective car in a reasonable way would cut another 30% of gas consumption, so more than 50% of fuel (diesel plus gas) could be spared without big changes.
But nah - it's fun to accellerate, it's cool to be cool and it's adrenaline to work off aggressions in a car
oops - I missed the point (at least regarding Germany) - the local government cannot afford the spared taxes that less gas consumption will cause...
It would be an economic breakdown as everyone with a calculator can figure out.
but anyway, volunteers ahead who always gather 'for a better world' - here's your chance to do something
I bet that not even 5% would be willing to take the afformentined inconveniences
...and that's why people are people
they need a strong arm to guide, punish and feed them
cheers, Tom

..or the understanding of their position and good info to make decisions.
i won't dog out people entirely because i'm one of them....
it's not even an all or nothing situation. there are other possibilities that are not even offered....

Nothing, it is just an indication of an immoral character. On 2006-06-29 12:04, garyb wrote:

BTW, Mississippi is in Central us, these floods are happening in the Eastern part of US.
Also, why would we need to have oil if we won't be able to drive?

Look at the scale of flooding:

Lake Needwood dam in Montgomery County, Maryland June 28, 2006. The potential failure of the earthen dam due to recent heavy rains has resulted in some 500 people evacuating the area Montgomery county, the National Weather Service said.

Workers clear a fallen-tree, at the front door of the White House, that was knocked down during heavy winds and storm conditions in the Washington area overnight, June 26, 2006. (Larry Downing/Reuters)

Again you proove that you don't know nothing about the subject being discussed. Excellent alternatives existed but were abruptly killed after Bush took office. Tell me what happened with GM's EV1 (EV=electric vehicle) electric car? However you now have cars with hybrid engines which are increasingly becoming very popular. On 2006-06-29 12:04, garyb wrote:
