Display Port w/ USB LCD

Post by dawman »

I’m bummed and wondered if anyone here used their Monitor w/ Display Port drivers and USB 3.0.

My monitor works great, but I can’t turn down my damn loud as hell triple 22k barrel fans.
I can easily hook up another HDMI Based Spare, but at the gigs I want full tilt and at rehearsals the silent mode which isn’t silent but I don’t need to yell at members.

Thanks

It depends on how you want to do it.
  • USB 3.1C with displayport passthrough?
  • A USB 3.0 USB>DP adapter -- will use the CPU, and is not the same as the above or as:
  • A USB-C Minihub with Displayport (and maybe HDMI etc).
First & Third are ok by me, middle is acceptable for office work or low CPU load Xite fun. Don't know if I'd go that route and hope for the lowest latency with 128GB Kontakt mega-jams.

Well I’m frustrated because I can’t get into the BIOS.
Restart > Hold Delete > nothing....dark screen.

I use this because there’s no power cable, display port drivers allow me to use USB 3 and the little AOC monitor works great.

Just can’t boot or restart into BIOS and seek a remedy....

Is the monitor USB?

Yes, USB 3.0 12” by AOC.
Sits on a mic stand above my controller.
Strictly for boot up and occasional manual over rides on mixer.

I’m thinking an additional driver might be needed but can’t find anyone using these except as a laptop extension.
If HDMI can get you into the BIOS surely there’s some way to get the OS to see the USB Monitor.
Obviously knows Display Port drivers are being used....

Well, I was presuming the monitor was displayport then realized my mistake and hence asked my question. If the monitor itself is USB, yes it's a driver issue and it's very unlikely that an EFI/BIOS will support the right hooks to get that running during boot. 100% best option for bios/efi is onboard CPU's video output > hdmi monitor. Then you can get that thing setup in windows as needed and roll forward with it. Maybe go grab an hdmi monitor somewhere and return it the following day if you don't want it lying around?

Actually I have one right here and one for every spare PC. Real PITA dragging one to the gig.
ASRock boards suck with fan options actually working properly.
Silent means the CPU heats up and fans go nutty trying to match Hz to RPM.
Performance is the same only louder and full tilt is a fuckin’ Hoover vacuum.
I’m upgrading the ancient BIOS to get a custom option that sets a stable rpm but no mention of speed options.
It always seems the Middle is the smart trade off.

Cheerz and Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
