if you code a minimax as VSTi, some user will use it (warez! - this can be a problem!) on a Sound Blaster. will the sound be as good? i don't think so! maybe so. But, what about the users of other pro sound cards. Sure, it probably won't sound exactly the same as on CW. But neither do most VSTi's -...

Have you noticed though, that the Volksampler VSTi is already half way there. Surely CW didn't recode the STS from scratch. I'm unfortunately a PC user so I'm not sure what the minimum spec for the volksampler is on the Mac. What I do know is that I've seen several running on an Athlon 1800+, while ...

The more I think about this, the more it makes sense. Within a year or two we're going to be running machines with 4 or 5 Ghz processors (how many sharcs does that equal?). It would be kind of like an SRB in software. If you look at it another way, It wouldn't even need to be the entire SFP packaged...

I know this may sound strange, but would it not be a good idea for CW to create a version of SFP which would run without the need of dedicated hardware. At the moment for example, I can get less out of my sts3000 running on LunaII than my friend can get out of Volksampler on VST. With CW apparently ...

Cool. I'm not really into HTML either. I'm just a graphic designer looking to get into web design. As for moderating, that's why I was thinking about using a newsgroup for posting. Obviously it would be ideal if we could go ahead and start posting on our beloved Planetz, but I don't think John would...

The problem that we seem to have on the CW platform is that generally FX seem to be a hog on the DSP's. The way I see it there's only two solutions to this problem. 1 - Put newer DSP's on the CW cards. (everybody's saying it. But that doesn't really help existing users) ....So why not? 2 - Build an ...

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the STS range offer far more polyphony per dsp than any other CW device? why not put this to good use. A range of sound modules based on the STS architecture would in my opinion be a welcome addition to the CW arsenal. All it would take is some sonic cre...

with regards to the value for money argument. I spent 700 quid on a DSP factory with the i/o trimmings a couple of years back. At the time it was a really good card....in a 'does what it says on the tin' kind of way it still is, but the support for that card ever since has been non existent. Yamaha ...

One of the creamware systems real strengths is the expandability - If you need more DSP you can buy a second card. What you probably will need is a fast comp. I'm running a Luna II card with Adat Z-link expansion on a 1.33Ghz Athlon (Epox M/Board, 512Mb ram, 30 Gb hard drive, 32mb Matrox G550 Dual h...

As much as it would be great to have the likes of Lexicon supporting the Creamware platform, I'm not sure I agree that it's what is needed to compete with the likes of Pro-Tools. Besides, if Lexicon, for instance, were to recreate one of they're reverb units as a Pulsar/Scope device how much dsp pow...

I am currently using a Kenton Control Freak with my Luna II card. I've found that I have to switch between different midi outs and sequencer midi ins quite a lot to access parameters on other software and external gear. This process could be steamlined by the introduction of a midi controlled midi o...
