Re: Ableton + XTC mode (not working)
I'm still hashing through this. Now that I think about it, I may have used the Novation Automap wrapped version of the plugins, but wasn't using the Novation controller. That's great to know that VST automation *should* work!

Re: Ableton + XTC mode (now working!!)
After some poking (and looking into the SCOPE/App/bin/ScopeVST.cfg file) I saw some references to a DevicesXTC directory, which wasn't created during any of my installs. So I copied the Devices directory into DevicesXTC, and now Ableton can recognize them, and most of the things I tried work (U007 a...

Re: Ableton + XTC mode (not working)
Ok, after uninstalling everything, and reinstalling, I can get XTC mode working (such that without SCOPE running, Live can get access to ASIO I/O, and I can hear audio output from the XITE-1. Reaper saw the instruments, and I could place one of the synths, although I didn't really start sending it a...

Re: Ableton + XTC mode (not working)
Not really worth a picture, it contains 4 modules - ASIO 32 source (2 outs) -> MERGE -> ASIO 32 Dest (2 outs), and a DirectPlayMixerContainer (2 outs, unconnected). I'll try a different host tonight. Also, when I close scope, and open Live, in my windows process/task list, there is nothing related t...

Re: Ableton + XTC mode (not working)
Not sure what you mean by running Live in XTC mode. I run Live, without scope running. Live complains there's no audio available.
What are the steps to start XTC mode? The manual hints at something, but it's not clear what that is.

Re: Ableton + XTC mode (not working)
Thanks for the suggestion (even if the manual is wack). Maybe it's the XITE version, I don't know. Same thing without SCOPE running, none of the other synths and effects show up as plugins. I know there's only supposed to be 3 or so .dlls, just renamed to match the SCOPE device (and I can see they a...

Ableton + XTC mode (not working)
I'm trying to get XTC mode working with Ableton Live. Even though I see the SCOPE dir in my VST folder (as installed by SCOPE), when I open Ableton, the only VSTs available is the Basic > VZRecording plugin. I copied over the Additionals/VSTClock plugin, and I can see that too. In the directory stru...

Something like this might provide the voltage level shift you need:

Re: Mixing on SSD
SpaceF, have you used FSAutostart? On windows XP it is free (it has been updated for win 7/etc, but I don't use that one yet : http://alacritypc.kensalter.com/ ). I found that as I posted this, so I'll have to take a look at Alacrity vs. FSautostart. I swear by it for many years now, it can be easil...

Re: Midi accuracy, midi jitter.
In the original post, there was some blur between recording, playback, jitter, and latencies, so sorry for any confusion I added to the mix. In my original response, I tried to be specific about when mating external gear with internal sequenced stuff, usign an external hardware based clock tends to ...

Re: Mixing on SSD
I wouldn't for recording. I do use one for my live rig, which loads programs, loads patches, and loads samples really FAST. But I would definitely not write a lot to it. Wear-leveling is used because the write life of SSDs is pretty short. So I use an external FireWire on my laptop for recording ins...

Re: Midi accuracy, midi jitter.
Yeah, ppq(n) = Pulse per Quarter Note, it is related directly to tempo, so higher tempo means more clocks per second. Hardware still transmits 24ppqn, always. No matter the resolution of the source or the destination. The jitter on that 24ppqn is far less on the QY vs native. The midi captured will ...

Re: Midi accuracy, midi jitter.
Windows will have delays, but in my experience the jitter should be less. Adjust tracks to account for the delays (if you need to), and that's it. Also, since your clock and MIDI data are now both coming from an external source, that delay may be the same for both. Recording MIDI straight into the Q...

Re: NOAA: last decade was warmest, global warming "undeniabl
Hydro-electric power was one of the reasons the US became such an industrial giant back in the day. We've since staved off the cost of oil/energy compared to most other parts of the world, but it seems to be catching up rapidly now. A change in dependence on the source of energy would be a good thin...

Re: Midi accuracy, midi jitter.
First, if all of the MIDI and Audio is done completely NATIVE within a DAW, then there is no problem. Any jitter is absorbed by the audio driver's buffers, since the audio hardware runs on it's own clock, which is rock solid for this discussion (we don't need to talk about jitter in audio samples). ...

Re: Midi accuracy, midi jitter.
To reduce jitter between computer and hardware, avoid using the computer to generate the MIDI Clock. Always use hardware. The system clock is subject to interrupt latencies, so even if the clock itself is tight, it takes a while for the system to react to it. Hrdware going into a computer has latenc...

Re: SC-Ambience - info for ScopeRise article
I have a Lexicon MPX-1, which also sports Lexicon's Ambience algorithm. And the two are really close. Really close. I liked using the Ambience on anything that a model of a larger space would smear the sound too much, but a total dry sound didn't work well in the mix. It can be a very subtle effect ...
