i always need limiting on a live instrument recording (preferably b4 the ad converter). live sound has a dynamic range of approx 140db the recording can handle maybe 100-110 db and the db scale is logarithmic.so- the live sound has a range of soft to loud perhaps 10,000 times what the recording can ...
