Re: XITE and 3rd party software

The thing I want to be sure about is if these plugins can all run in OS X. We don't know if they have to be recompiled or something, do we?

Re: soniccore site down!!!

When their site is down, it usually means they're changing something.

Whoo-hoo! Can't wait!!!!

.mdl files are stored in a project, .dev files are referenced.

Also, insert slots can't remember .mdl settings in presets. So, use .dev as much as possible.

I agree I like it very much. Jimmy, try it @ 96 KHz and you will be amazed! It's really a pity that it doesn't have internal oversampling... Maybe we can ask to Soniccore for an update... :-) Yeah, Vectron would be awesome if it were aliasing-free. As it is, I don't use it anymore -- I've gone with...

You mean you have inter-state taxes, except for Nevada??? :o He means that hardly anyone lives in Nevada outside of Reno and Las Vegas, and therefore most (all?) business that sell SC products are in other states -- and therefore no sales tax. Also, Nevada has no in-state sales tax either -- the st...

Here's an idea: maybe XITE can plug into either a x1 card or a x4 card (if you need more bandwidth). Since we don't know anything about it yet, let's hope that's true. :)

Well, I for one like the new look of the software. The gray tones more closely match both Windoze Vista and Mac OS X, compared to the old blue interface that looked like Windows XP. Also I'm very pleased to see that the eyesore green olive logo is gone. :)

Waiting with anticipation,

I'm going to buy Scope Xite which will come with Scope 5.0 for my Mac. My PC will keep my old cards with Scope 4.0. And hopefully, everything should work just nicely together.

If I happen to run out of DSPs on Xite, I can always load something into the old boards. :D

SC finally updated their Web site!!!! It nows says July 2008 (spelled Juli -- er?). Also they finally mentioned that Z-Link is included.

Let's hope that July doesn't become August and August doesn't become September.

Nice, I think SPL use SSM2019s in their stuff. It means for those who aren't technical that the Xite-1 preamps should have a sound that rivals some very nice mid-range Mic pres. Think SPL, Grace 101, Joemeek etc. That's good, because the mic inputs on the Onyx box are all in the back -- so Scope's ...

Yeah, there's a phantom power button so it has to have mic preamps.

I probably wouldn't use them -- it'll be sitting right above a Mackie Onyx 800R which is sure to have better preamps anyway. :)

It looks great! Can't wait to have the real thing in my studio!

John Cooper, can you please ban Braincell?

It's getting so that I can't read a decent conversation on PlanetZ anymore. Braincell just goes around insulting everyone and acting like Sonic Core is the worst company on earth -- why the h*** is he still hanging around on a SC forum anyway??? This place is getting very unpleasant, and I think we ...

The 2nd generation hardware (Pulsar2) also has better PCi performance. Again, if the Pulsar 2 is set to be the master board, the other card will benefit.

And the 3rd generation hardware -- Scope Xite -- will have even better PCI (-E) performance than before!

He said that SC will not and should not fix any bugs. I did not say that as an absolute. I said SC should not fix any bugs in the 3.1/4.0 software. Any bug fixes, updates, whatever, will be in 5.0 and beyond. Example: there were some bugs in Sonar 3 from Cakewalk. Some of them got fixed in free upd...

There was a conscious decision to not fix the bugs so that people will buy the new platform and I for one am outraged by this. I hate to tell you this, but that's standard practice by most companies. They develop a version of a product for a certain period of time, and then at some point the next m...

Right. Before, you could develop cool plugs for Scope but have no DSP power to run them on. Now, we'll be able to make anything we can dream.

Of course, like hard disk space, CPU cycles, and memory, I'm sure Xite's DSP power will be eaten up before long.

I'm with Hifiboom. We've been waiting 6+ years for new hardware, so I'm willing to wait another month or so to make sure it's ready and not filled with bugs. But Ralf said it was only delayed a couple of weeks...so if the original release date was May 30th, maybe everything will be announced on June...

I don't expect to see Scope5 until Xite is released, and we all know that is delayed for a couple of weeks. The closest we can guess is middle of June. I like the "Scope 5 has advanced greatly..." news, since as we all know 4.0 and 4.5 were rehashed versions of 3.1c. This will be the first...
