I have not as yet found a motherboard, e.g. ASUS that has Flashback and 3x PCI slots, or that doesn't need a previous generation CPU unfortunately.

Re: Thoughts on a PCI chassis
Yes, so I would need 3 licenses, 1 for each card and with this stuff being so old I don't know if it's worth it really.garyb wrote:oh, no.
only one card per computer needs keys.

I thought a license only covered one card on one system regardless of how many cards are in that computer.garyb wrote:licenses for each system? why?

Re: Thoughts on a PCI chassis
yes.
they suck.
you're better off with two computers, you'll spend less than a Magma, and the Magma is the only one that will really work correctly with 3 cards.
the chances are that the "more advanced instructions" available for the latest series of cpus aren't even supported in the software ...

So does this occur even with the PCIe to PCI bridge?garyb wrote:no, it leads to reduced PCI performance= more PCI overflow and earlier PCI overflow.

Re: Thoughts on a PCI chassis
the problem is that an external chassis degrades PCI performance significantly, and only the very expensive Magma actually works properly with more than one card. even the Magma provides poor PCI performance.

Re: Thoughts on a PCI chassis
There are modern configurations aviable.
With more than 2 PCI slots, I haven't found any that require a firmware upgrade and without a CPU how can one upgrade
Anyway, so is it not recommended to use an external chassis with Creamware cards?
The obvious advantage is to not have to worry ...

Hi Marco,Marco wrote:This is a always problematic solution, it is better way to buy a new Mainboard, there are enough aviable with 3 PCI slots
I understand what you are saying, it is just that I'd like to use a modern CPU, OS and chipset if I possibly can.

Thoughts on a PCI chassis
Hi all,
I am thinking of getting one of these:
https://www.exsys.ch/en/expansion-box/expansion-box-4-x-pci-slots-220w-power.html
since PCI slots are difficult to find with newer chipsets on both AMD and Intel Platforms so does anyone have any thoughts regarding this particular unit?

I love my XITE-1.
I basically use it as a hardware mixer with some specialized MIDI devices.
Well,- you changed it by good reasons so to say, isn´t it ?
Formerly you used it for much more than only a mixing device and "some specialized MIDI devices".

It's just disappointing that's all to learn there may have been an update and it's cancelled because there may have been some neat functions to come online besides cables that aren't "square" :).

Re: Getting glitches recording back into Cubase
if it's clocking, that is user error or broken hardware...
Not at all.
If it's working with an external clock generator then it is the clock in the card that is deficient but not necessarily broken.

It was the clocking that is at issue, so obviously it's the hardware that is at fault (never mind the software).

Re: Scope 6 does not exist
I don't think modern day reality would concur with the notion of using a 32 bit system for a sampler, unless soundfonts are what you desire, so markdown on that response.

Re: Scope 6 does not exist
So someone screwed up then?
Does this mean we are stuck with V5 for the foreseeable future and that there will not be any x64 support for many plugins (even though the GUI's recognize the bit-width of the system), issues with wave driver compatibility and the ongoing need for workarounds.

Scope 6 does not exist
I was just wanting to download Scope 6 from here:
http://sonic-core.net/joomla.soniccore/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=336:
but alas it does not exist.
Any word on when it might be available and what systems it will (and will not) support?
Looking forward to putting it through it ...

Does that mean they could be used on two (both) systems?garyb wrote:no, the PCI card will keep it's keyfile.
I found this to be the case with UAD but I didn't even both with the old hardware.
S|C on the other hand would be a different proposition.
Cheers

Re: Getting glitches recording back into Cubase
Hi Gary,
I found those options and turned them all off, but I was still getting glitches so have decided to try external clocking and will report back.
Thank you for all your good advice.
