why can't you use 24bit?
if the old project was 16bit, there'll be no audio disadvantage.

well, 32bit driver connected to a 16bit app communicates with the app at 16bits....

I'm using Sonar X1, if i start scope project from scratch, i cannot use 16bit resolution in Sonar at all. Sonar lists audio driver bit depth at 24bit without possibility to change that to any other value ...

I forgot to mention that i really need 16 bit drivers for some of my projects, especially for live use (SAC, and other VST hosts)

I ran into impossible situation: all 16-bit software drivers suddenly disappeared from routing window in Scope 5.1 32bit in WinXP sp36. It means that only 32bit ASIO1 and ASIO2 drivers are offered under soft in&out. I cannot find any 16bit instance of ASIO driver, it's not even listed ...
