First, I should warn you that this reply is of very technical nature, so don't try to answer unless you have a good idea of it. Could you elaborate a little why having separate IRQ's for different devices should get better performance? I'm not really familiar with how IRQ's work on the x86-ar...

I think you're right atomic. Sadly, It's #1 of the three of your alternatives I'm having problems with.

So what I was looking for was a way to reset the driver without rebooting so it's no longer 'busy'. Just to clear things up.

do you mean that pci performance will be crap?

I run windows 2000 in acpi mode and don't have any problems except for the damn pci overflow. But I've always had problems with that damned pci overflow even on windows 98.

BTW I use a Pulsar1 on a 761 chipset (had 440BX before with similar results)

I'm having a problem that every time logic crashes, it takes the asio-driver down with it. This means that i have to reboot to get it up again. Is there a way to restart the pulsar asio-driver without restarting the whole computer? Closing pulsar and reopening it doesn't seem to help. Ususally...

No, you don't have to do that. The sampler fix this automatically. Although if you have a project thats sampled at Of course, increasing the sample rate of the project should result in better sound quality if the samples used is either recorded or pitched to a samplerate that is higher than that of ...

It would be sweet if a couple of potentiometers would be built-in in computer keyboards.. Having four of them extending the left side of the keyboard seems like a good idea.

This could be very handy for other software than audio, graphics is something that comes to mind..

It would work counting the time between two zero crossing of the same polarity. This would give the period time, which is the inverse of the frequency. I've played around with this a little and here is a vst-plugin that works by that principle. http://www.vember.net/vstplugins/treemonster.dll note t...

I'm curious of why wordclock should be so important in this use? I understand why people use wordclock, but if the device already gets synchronized by the adat output from pulsar, what's the difference?

any agp card with 8-16 megs or more will probably do fine. I recently upgraded from a TNT1 card to a geforce3 and I didn't note any speed difference (when using pulsar that is)..

Changing cpu has way larger effect. I went from a celeron466 to athlon1.4 and the gui got significantly faster.

braincell:

hehe, that's odd.. I always find myself mixing the reverb quieter when mixing with headphones (because i feel the reverb appear louder in the headphones)..

but that might be to my loudspeaker and headphones.. both are quite average..

I have the same config as you (kg-7 and tb1400) and it runs without any problems with my pulsar1.

The problems associated with amd is because of some via chipsets and not the processors. KG-7 has the amd761 northbridge so you can relax..

I've had the KG7 now for a couple of weeks and it works very well. The PCI performance seem to be the same as my old 440bx board, I get pci overflow when loading the fourth ezverb. I only have a pulsar1 so it is probably the limiting factor, as it doesn't has the improved PCI-performance of the seco...
