Re: Reading the DSP meter
Left column is where the # 7 -12 numbers ahould be of concern. The right column only starts to load up because of Windows from what I have been told. 6500 is the number to stay under that has worked for me. The first 6 DSP's are for comaptability and are the older Sharcs. VDAT. VRC128 & VRC-S are ...

Reading the DSP meter
Hi,
Just wondering how to interpret the DSP meter properly. What's the Sync and ASync telling us? And what's the upper limit of these readings?
Thanks

Re: DAWs and Scope
A good direction should be to reserve, let say, 30 or 50 first CC (cc 1 to 50) for all sort of control template (eq, delay, comp, synths etc etc ..) and have cc 51 to 119 reserve for automation lane So when you need to automate something in real time with your controler, you use your CC template (1 ...

Re: DAWs and Scope
Ah yes, I see the problem.
The only way around this is to choose carefully what parameters need automating. It's going to be a very rare track that needs all 119CC automating. The problem is controlling it with hardware as well.

Re: DAWs and Scope
Hi Mehdi, Thanks for that reply and the great tip! To be honest, I haven't even looked at MIDI presets yet as I'm still new to the whole thing but now I'm looking at MIDI automation I'll dig deeper. Just for some info - Ralph told me that they are going to implement better DAW integration. They are ...

Re: DAWs and Scope
>>> Max 128 CC Max = 119 CC (in Scope at least) (including CC64 which is assignable except in synths where it should be reserved to "hold" for sustain-pedals). :-) \ But isn't that per MIDI channel? If mixer automation had it's own sequencer MIDI port then that would make 1904 CC (199 multiplied by ...

Re: Daw Controllers
Well, I have a Lemur waiting for me in the UK. I'll pick it up when I go back for Christmas. The Lemur doesn't have MIDI ins or outs - just an ethernet port for OSC. A server applet converts the OSC messages to MIDI for control of DAWs and other devices. I'll have to get my head around the whole ...

Re: DAWs and Scope
There's some absolutely golden advice here on this thread. The beauty is there's so many different ways to do things - we're not just stuck with using the DAW's mixer. It's a damn shame that Scope only responds to MIDI messages - it would be great if it could respond to host automation somehow. I ...

Re: DAWs and Scope
Hi voidar, Thanks for the great reply. That's what I did yesterday. I set all of Live's faders to 0db and used Scope's mixer purely. I'd like to work this way if possible. To be honest I don't do a lot of mixer automation as I'm a sort of set a level and leave it kind of guy - except for fade-ins ...

Re: SpaceF - Valve Mixers -version 1.7
Thanks for the detailed reply, Mehdi. That's great news that you'll be optimising the FB5 mixer! It sure seems to be a favourite around here and since I trust these guys' judgements I went ahead and bought the mixer. Mind you, I've been looking at LBHVIII as well so please don't leave it too long ...

DAWs and Scope
Hi gang, Last night I tried routing tracks from Ableton Live into Scope's mixer and using Scope for effects and EQing. Up to now, I've been using Scope's mixer as a 'submixer' for Scope's synths. All can can say is 'WOW!' It was like night and day. I can really hear what you guys are talking about ...

Hi Mehdi,
Is the FB5 really unsuitable for the Xite-1? I bought the FB5 + V82 bundle yesterday and I haven't had time to try it. I hope it's usuable

Re: MIDI loopback devices in Scope?
I then moved to an Emagic MIDI interface that was USB. USB is supported but the drivers are no longer compatible with any modern operating system . If it connects to a computer, one day it will be obsolete. ? I have an Unitor 8 MkII (usb) pluged in my Macpro ealry 2009, rock solid !! Drivers are ...

Re: MIDI loopback devices in Scope?
Wow Jim, aren't you worried that one day all your gear might become self aware and try and take over the world? :D I agree with what you say though, but it seems that Windows handles USB more poorly than OSX. I used to run Windows XP on my old box and I had no end of USB troubles - certain midi ...
