I can only speak for the Asus side of view. Other brand may do not have such a behaviour due to the BIOS programming or the general board layout.

Well, try it and if it doesnt work > Ebay :smile:

My advise again:Keep away from the A7N8X DLX 2.0 if you have an old card. The elektra can but must´nt help you in this case.

Hi,

if you have old architecture Pulsar Cards then do yourself a favour an stay away from AMD. If you own only new ones then its ok.

I have my Intel system now for nearly a month or so and nothing can achieve this performance thats is named "AMD".

Thank you. Just did an install of this one but it certainly wont solve the Problem.

But I know that hopefully my new P4C800-E Deluxe, which will arrive by tomorrow will make an end to this AMD disaster. Generally said I somehow never was really a good friend of the Athlon side. Back to the roots ...

Finally some of you guys out there who share these problems with me.
It simply must be some technical design of the board which doesnt get along with the old cards. With the new ones there is no limit.

Good to know it´s not only me.

Hey Creamware...how about an exchange :grin:

Update:
Had some time inbetween to make the suggested things. Reinstalled XP, moved XTC card from Slot 1 to 4. I in 5. Installed the new nforce 3.13 drivers.

Result: NO success!

Its simply the old Pulsar I which doesnt like to act in my system. I´ll wipe it away in the next days and it will ...

I´ll go for this one as a next step! Right you are my friend.
Only thing is that the opinions on ACPI and Standard PC related to this Mobo are quite different (see aMO)

Thanx

@valis
Yes. This was my way of thinking, too. In this case it seems Asus has done a pretty good job to the normal structure we normally know :smile: When starting up the IRQ allocation table is shown and there can be seen that the PCI 1 and PCI 5 share one IRQ among with the USB.

@Zer
Might be true ...

Yes. Sorry that I didnt mention it. I have 1006d2 at the moment running on this Mobo.

@paulrmartin
Creamware always suggested to take the "middle" PCI Slots, which are already heavily occupied by NICs and IDE. The only PCI Slots which share each other are 1 and 5. Also the USB is taking its ...

Thank you Tom,

I ran several Tests now and ended with these results.

Plugged the PS I alone into my old AMD761based System and it ended with 2 MVs before it striked out with my beloved message.

Did all of the above tweaks : Switched XTC into Slot 1 and PS I into 5. Did a cset.ini adaption and ...

Yes it is. Interesting!
My config is like this:
AGP : Radeon9500
PCI 1:Pulsar 1
PCI 2:
PCI 3:ESI Waveterminal 192
PCI 4:UAD
PCI 5:Pusar XTC (SRB)

Once SFP is set up this way do I have to change some .ini settings for it to take my XTC in Slot 1 as master or does SFP reassign automatically the ...

Hi aMO,

thanks for your reply. Your details give me a much better picture what I seem to suggest.
From one of your earlier posts I thought you have a Pulsar I. Now I have the proof that the old Pulsar I somehow with its old PCI architecture makes the whole system go down.
The last proof will be ...

Ok. my testing with Standard PC had the same results. So finally I see no further chance and I think something maybe really broken there. How can I check it to its full extend upon functionality? I think there is now way :sad:

BTW do you also run the A7N8X Deluxe rev 2?

Thank you so far for the ...

Hi gary,

I have to admit I didnt set up the OS from scratch. I installed the chipset drivers properly. Only thing which makes me curious is why the XTC card can run 9 MVs solely while the Pulsar I when plugged in too, slows down PCI bandwith enormously.

I will try and investigate further by doing ...

Hello mates,

I just graded my MoBo up to an A7N8X Deluxe Rev 2.0 after reading several Posts that this one performs really good according to Pulsar Cards.

Before the change my A7N266-C really was smooth like hell making 9 MVs easily.

Now I plugged my Pulsar I and my Pulsar XTC into this new ...

I was one of the first buyers of the A7N266 and when I read Subhuman´s test I immediately threw it out again onto the street (I didnt dare exchange my running Mobo without proof)

Just 2 weeks ago I read about the Bios update from Asus and I ordered this time an A7266N-C.

Yesterday I finally got ...

I have a Gigabyte 7DXR with 768MB DDR running Pulsar1 and SRB2 counting 10DSPs. I can load 7 MVs (error on #8)maxing out the PCI.

I think Sub is aware of that, arent´t you Sub?

You can only run 2 double sided dimms in slot 1 and 3 I think or 1 and 2. 3 double sided dimms reduce performance down to 200MHz
