When I recently switched from 98lite based system to XP, I encountered a variety of problems with my CD burner (a plextor) which weren't there under the old OS. I upgraded the firmware on my CD-R controller (essentially a little bios for the CD's internal controller board)several of these problems w...

call me dense, but I'm still confused!!

Does this mean the STS3000 and other stuff I got with 3.01 and Powerpack is the so-called new revisions cited in the newsletter, or is the download site supposed to have still newer versions, but I just can't find them???

not exactly a pulsar tip, but some readers here may have trouble doing a clean install of XP. Sometimes booting from the install CD the setup does not load drivers capable of reading the other files off your CD. depending on your hardware, Mobo and BIOS settings. There is a way to run the Setup prog...

Disabling certain functionality in the OS which you won't need will 1) reduce the RAM footprint of the OS (more RAM for rverbs and audio apps is always a good thing!); 2)in some cases free up a few CPU cycles; and 3) usually lead to greater stability (the less stuff going on in the OS, the less oppo...

tks alot for this advice marcuspocus Since my board and other hardware is almost same as yours, I am asuming you are recommending what is for you a stable, workable arrangement on your rig. With your recommended HD setup, would it matter performance-wise which HD (master/slave)is audio/which OS/apps...

Tried re-assiging IRQs in bios, and got Pulsar working fine. BUT, then my PlexWriter CD-R started misbehaving. CD-R is on IDE Ch2 slave. With PnP OS checked as "No" in Bios (which is necessary to prevent "Hardware Version 30 Detected" error on Pulsar startup), CD-R driver disappe...

[some material copied from post in other thread - old prob solved, new one arises!] In clean Pulsar3.01 install on clean XP install, Pulsar locks up very easily, usually within 20-30 mouse-clicks, or a minute or two after starting the app. When this happens, the my mouse still moves the cursor in pu...

anybody using intel's "application accelerator" with Pulsar? http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/ reading intel's website, this looks interesting, but the proof's in the pudding. I'm thinking of installing this, but I need a week or two to benchmark my new XP-based setup more fir...

funktastico - if no creamware dealer handy, and direct liase with Creamware seems too much trouble, just make your own STDM cable. All you need is a electronics parts store with a reasonably extensive inventory - any city should have one - and it'll take minutes and cost peanuts. I made mine for les...

to Toni L: did you install XP clean or as an upgrade? In other words, did you re-install pulsar drivers onto new XP install or did it just automatically pick up drivers which you were running on previous OS? If you did a fresh driver install, did you do this during OS install or later? as plug-n-pla...

I have a Pulsar II card and a Pwrsamplr card (really same as Luna, but HWSN refers to the card as a Powersampler). STDM cable works fine. A while back, going from 2.0 to 2.04 Pulsar software made my head spin. At boot time it kept loading Luna default project and refusing to work. With multiple card...

fair point, thought I'd love to hear more.

maybe I should just stick to cubase, and give Logic a whirl after 5.0 is out. (although since I don't mess with warez, and haven't seen e-magic doing demos, that a pricey "look-see") What major improvements are anticipated with 5.0?
