BTW, in Tips and Tricks forum Subhuman has kicked off a very useful thread on tweaking W2K for audio, which is, of course, closely related to this thread. Anybody interested in this one should check out that one also

Like many, I'm still contemplating moving to W2K or XP, and V3. Everything else I use is compatible (Cubase, etc) This site has seen some threads on specific problems/issues. Some are known bugs, others are solvable problems with settings, etc, as users get up the learning curve. Both of these are g...

I bot 2 CW boards by internet, they shipped w/o STDM cable. Emailed dealer, and got an awful runaround. So, . . . Carried cards into a local electronics repair/hobby shop - the kind of place that sells a million different kinds of electoinics components. The guy took one look at my board, pulled the...

the new control surface from Steinberg looks cool if you're a Cubase user. I/O is either by USB (a problem w/CW cards) or by MIDI.

anyone tried this box through a creamware MIDI in? can you customise automation of devices in the Pulsar project window with the Houston controls?

sorry. should probably not use the term "I/O". "Interface" would be better. This thing is not a combined controller/audio I/O box a la Tascam 328, just a controller. anyway, above questions still of great interest. any experience/views? does this work okay in a pulsar-based system?

interesting, defex. sounds like my wish for a proper osscilliscope should stay on the wish list - maybe one of the developers at CW would embrace it as an interestering side project. meanwhile, another idea for the wishlist: Group/Ungroup for objects in the pulsar workspace. Shiftclick on two or mor...

another $.01 earlier posts in this topic mentioned analogue saturation. Unless I've a mistaken understanding of how this works, I think this would be most valuable if implemented right at the initial A/D conversion. If an anlogue signal with amplitude overflow is coming in on an alugue in, once the ...

my wishlist for CW - 1) would love to see a real oscilloscope and powerful FFT both with lots of user settable parameters. as far as I'm concerned, these could both be real DSP hogs if need be to enable real powerful operating characteristics and controls; this would be OK because they would seldom ...

Wolfgang's (ars-resonor) analysers are great, but I'm still hoping to find a real oscilloscope - you know, a scope with the squiggly line representing the wave form, with a tunable window width and sampling frequency - so I can look at the actual waveform at a given frequency, then observe visually ...

I bought pulsar and other virtual stuff because my wife can't see when I spend more $$ the way she can when I used to bring home another box with flashing lights for my rack!

For some of us, this is not a trivial concern!

interesting thread. my $.o2 : fantastic products. aside from a few grumbles on install probs, and the odd bug (hey, every DAW prod has their share, its all about functionality per purch $, and here CW excels), in general CW is a pretty cool company. (oh, but their user forum stinks, I guess they lea...

loaded up my Ultimate Piano programme (from EastWest, Akai), gain seems really wimpy. I'm still mastering this software, and there seems to be several different places one can affect gain. What's the best way to set these to get the most signal out of a sample, without clipping? also, don't quite un...

Anything like this exist? I'd like to be able to view wavforms while I tweak.

Obviously, this could be something within the Mod2 box, or without, in the pulsar environment.

any such thing exist?

I have custom juggled my devices and modules directories structure a bit, to get things organised the way I like it. However, I can't get the right headings to appear on the toolbar menus in the Mod2 empty module. What I want here is, of course, all the Mod2 components, grouped under menus headed &q...

CW boards and software are great products, into which we've all invested a lot of our time, creative energy, and $$$

Works fine for me direct, also by ripping Audio CD wavs into some other audio app, as Lotuz suggests. I use Plextor CD player app which was bundled with my CD-ROM drive. Think of it this way: Without a cable link to sound card, your CD audio is playing through an application, such as Winamp, Media P...
