i can get cubase OR reason running, but not reason AND cubase.

i'm using an m-audio 410.

here's my checklist of things to do i've been told:
1) start cubase sx 2.2
2) then start reason 2.5

With this, cubase started fine, but reason locked up. somebody said i need Rewire, but another told me ...
