So if I understand you right Creamware doesn't manufacture these cards anymore but I could get one used if lucky? Have to be very careful in that case and see that the I/O card really fits the Pulsar.

Ahhh! Exactly the info I needed! Thanks a lot. It seems I can go ahead and buy the card w/o any hazzle at all then. Just to remove my old card, install the new one and then add the old card again.

Am thinking about buying a used Pulsar II from a friend of mine. I already own a Pulsar I but no extra plugins, synths etc.

Just wondering how a transfer of his license to me would work. Checked the forum and found out that people has to pay to transer licenses for plugins. Is it the same for ...

Could I exchange the daughterboard of the Pulsar II for one that has more ADAT in/out?

It seems that it could be exchanged if you're looking on the specs here:

I have found a used Pulsar II so I will probably go ahead and buy it. Can I expand this card with extra ADAT in/out. I think I have seen some kind of expension cards/daughterboard before on Creamware's site but can't find them now...

Wondering if there is any chance I could expand my Pulsar I to have more ADAT in/out?

Or is it just Pulsar II that can have an expansion board? Though I don't see that board on Creamware's site.

Well... I would really want a Mackie Control but it's too expensive for my budget right now. So I guess I have to stick with a simple MIDI control and move faders with the mouse.

Also got a suggestion about this one:

Also found these ones that are small and affordable:

Looking for a "good enough" DAT recorder where I can put studio mixdowns and live backgrounds.

I don't know much about what features I should look for in a DAT? Should it be able to be either master or slave in the digital chain (thinking about ADAT out from Pulsar)? Is there something is must or ...

As I'm getting 24ch in/out through ADAT soon I will get rid of the mixer. Though I would still want to easily be able to adjust control room volume, headphones volume etc.

For this I thought that a couple of MIDI knobs/faders would be suitable. Maybe around four MIDI knobs/faders would be enough ...

Yep, I guess a new Pulsar card would be quite nice  Though I would like to have a cheaper alternative but I guess there's none.

Ok, so you get one ADAT A and one B then. That's nice! And I could finally get rid of the hardware sub mixer...

Replying to my own post...

Another question is how it will look in the SFP interface if I choose to buy another Pulsar card? Can't recall if there is one ADAT1 and one ADAT2?

Though it feels a little bit over the top to buy a whole Pulsar card just to get an extra ADAT in/out.

Have been using an A8 (old version) for quite a while. Just got me an used A16 (old version as well) to compliment my studio and give me a total of 24ch in/out.

Am using a Pulsar I and of course both fibre connections are now occupied with the A16. So it's time to get both devices to work together ...

OK, made a modification to the case and added a 80mm fan that's blowing air directly on the 5,25" bay. Got the temp down to 45C in the ATA disk now.

Hopefully it will decrease even more when I probably change my SCSI for a S-ATA (maybe the Raptor if I hear good things about it).

I ran Speedfan now and it measures 52C in the ATA drive when it's idle.

Immanuel: Checked out Seagate but couldn't find the right articles. Did you have any good links?

I got one vibration damper per drive already, called Innovibes. Think they work OK.

Yep, but then I'll get more noise as well. I record vocals in the same room so the lower the noise...

I have a 3,5" bay for two drives above the motherboard. I guess they would be in a more open space sitting there and also get cooling from the front case fan. But then I have do drop my Innovibes ...
