Getting another Pulsar is unfortunately not an option. I have one PCI slot unused and I want to keep it this way for heat (and IRQ) purposes.

I currently have a Pulsar2+ and a Pulsar 1, which gives me 4 ADAT ins + outs. My question is, is there any way I can get MORE? Like 6, and still keep my balanced analogue in+out of the Pulsar 2. How about the Z-link option and the ADAT expansion? I am not quite sure how this works and what it'll ...

I have had a SIS645DX mobo with Pulsar 2+1 for a while now - before that I used CUSL2. I have had no issues or problems with the SIS645DX at all.

I am still trying to find the reason for my noiseproblems when I record analogue. I dont think the S/N ratio is bad on the Pulsar's input anymore, but the input is LOW compared to what it should be? A very hot input seems to amount to -20db or so - way too low! So when I normalize this, you can ...

ATA is the interface standard, DMA is the way data is transfered. As the name, Direct Memory Access says, it goes directly from the drive to the memory, over PCI bus, instead of through CPU.

DP, sorry to say, but yes. If you had checked these forums or the Creamware site, you'd see that everybody recommends an Intel motherboard, and especially one with the i815 chipset. However, I think you can tweak your VIA chipset to perform better. Have you tried messing with PCI Latency in the BIOS ...

You have to record your MIDI tracks before you can do an audio export.... Interesting that you dont have to do that with VSTi's. Nice.

When I record, at least under XP, I get random clicks in my sound. Sometimes I can record for a minute without clicks, sometimest there are 2-3 clicks in the sound. I tried 6 and 7 ms ULLI (I run 44khz 24-bit). If I could at least MONITOR what I am REALLY recording, so I can hear the clicks when I ...

I think it will take some serious (G)UI improvement to make other companies realize how great Pulsar is. I work with ProTools at work and plugins/devices load up in 1/10th of a second. The GUI is regular MacOS, not some sloooooooooooow custom one. Working in PT is so much more smooth than Pulsar ...

Actually I only think Gigapiano has 6 layers - 3 pedal up, 3 pedal down. Like the Steinway B. Bosendorfer has 8 - or is it the other way around? I know somebody were working on a 16-layer piano but ran into some 2gb instrument limit which I am not sure has been resolved.

You can't convert Giga to AKAI... Even if you could, your AKAI sampler would choke on the size of (most) GS samples...

I get 64 tracks on a single IBM IDE drive without any problems. So for now I am going for IDE, until maybe they make SCSI drives as silent, cool and cheap as IDE's.

It is my experience that converting from 48khz to 44khz simply degrades the quality so much that there is absolutely no reason to use 48khz. So for now I stick to 44khz 24-bit in Cubase, then go to 16-bit for CD.

I got Pulsar V3 working with XP completely last night. However, like was the case under Win2k, I find Cubase (and probably other audio programs) performing quite a bit worse under XP than 98 - more clicks, more CPU usage etc. Are you experiencing this too? And is it simply something we have to live ...
