The CW cards don't have onboard memory (not completley true but close enough).

The PCI bus is definitley to slow.
Except for very short reverbs. Very short.

So in reality it isn't doable on a CW card.

Nope. Not with the current CW boards.
Since they have'nt got onboard RAM the stress on the PCI bus would be WAY to big.
Simply not technically possible for the moment.

1. I had my Pulsar II in my Mac. Switched it to my new PC. No problemo. Just download the SFP for PC at CWs site and off you go.

There might be a heat problem with the Shuttle though. I've heard concerns about this but nothing confirmed. And you'd better check that the cards physically fits in the ...

Well. I did some brief testing this morning.
After some initial problems (probably a Logic problem) i got it running.
It works just fine!!!
I had some peculiarities creeping up on me but they were probably user errors.

Asus P4B533-V, PIV 2.4 running Windows XP.

Even if USB should have twice the thruput, you have to remember that it is an IDE drive connected thru IDE to a converter chip.
So IDE would still be the bottleneck.

I didn't quite understand everything you wrote but a few pointers.

You have to differ between megaBITS and megaBYTES.
If you're only reason to go USB2 is that you think you can load a full CD in 1.5 sec. you will be really dissappointed.

Always buy second hand for the great prices you get.

I believe that particular chipset uses dual RAM channels so you are better off with 2 256 Mb chips instead.

Other than that it is hunky dory.
