is there any setting for inside Logic as there is in SX ie? 'release asio in background'

Relating to the Scope driver in WIndows XP, is there a way to separately set the number of Input Devices from Output devices?
In windows 98 I was able to improve the performance by dropping the Input values ie. Input = 2 and Output = 8.
