Interview with a Scope user

We have just published a new interview at our website www.spacesynth.net with the musician Huib Schippers. As the interview covers his experience with the Scope soundcards I thought that you might be interested to read it. Huib Schippers was one of the first users of softsynths in Holland (if not ...

stardust, thanks a lot. You have saved my day !!!!

I followed you last instruction and it works.

This is how the project looks like now: screenshot2.jpg
Inside the mixer I routed channel 5 to bus1+2.

Actually I don't really understand what I've done, but it works and that is the most important ...

stardust, thanks for your quick reply.

Unfortunally I'm not that experienced with the Scope-platform yet, so I wonder if you could draw a picture (or publish a screenshot) or explain a little bit further how I shall setup the project ?

I only have the stereoinput on the Pulsar2-card that I would ...

Audiorecording while using VSTis

I'm trying to record an audiotrack in CubaseSX (ie. audio from a microphone) meanwhile the other tracks are playing some VST intruments. The problem that occurs for the audiotrack is that the audio from the VSTi tracks will be recorded too, which wasn't the intention. The recorded audiotrack should ...

kensuguro, thanks for the feedback. I'm still learning, so I hope my songs will be better and better. I have spent a lot of hours with Uknow007 to try to get the classical spacesynth-bassline. Unfortunally I haven't succeeded yet (actually, that was the reason why I bought the Pulsar2-card, as I ...

kensuguro, your sample has some nice melodies and a nice mood. You could try to get some more bite in the sounds, and some punch in the drums. The snare sounds a little bit weird but the kick is ok (a little bit more punch would be good on the kick). The bassline could have some less decay so that ...

The second spacesynth contest has now started and the prizes are even better than the first contest. What do you say about the first prize: a TC Powercord Element soundcard !

You can find complete information about the contest at the following link:

I'm planning to buy three monitors that I'm going to run in 1600x1200 resolution (Samsung 213T), and I wonder if that will require much of the CPU capacity? I'm using the CPU for all my synths (ie. VSTis), and I'm not using any hardware synths. That's why I'm a little bit worried that driving the ...

Kensuguro, thanks for sending the patch!
I've now used the patch and it was exactly the sound that I was looking for (some changes to the eq in the STM mixer made it even better). Planetz is perfect.
The difference between this sound and the VSTi-synths that I've tried before, is that the "Creamware ...

did you check out the sample I made? I made it using hummel bluesynth. I can send you the preset if it's close to what you want.
Great! This sounds very good. Exactly like the sound that I'm looking for (probably I will add some stereodelays to the sound to get it as I want).

Of course I'm ...

Stephen, I can't access the demo of Wavelength Europa. Is the URL correct? (this is the link I'm trying to access:
http://www.track0.com/wavelength/eurov11demo.zip ).

I assume that they used the Prophet5 in the soundsample above (the song was made in 1990).
I can tell you that the reason that I ...

ps: that stuff seems to be in the C64 tracker tradition, isn't it ?
Yes, many of the songs in that genre have also been made with the fasttracker program for the demoscene (Amiga, C64, etc). So, you can find many songs in that style in the mod- and xm-formats.

I listened to the mp3 example from ...

P.S. By the way, who composed that sound clip of yours? I liked it!

The sample is taken from a band called Laserdance (the song is called "Around the planet").
The bands Koto, Proxyon, Rygar, Hipnosis etc makes music in the same genre (the genre
is called Spacesynth or Synthesizer Dance).

You ...

Hmm... It is a little bit difficult to hear from the samples if the synth can generate the synclead sound that I'm looking for.

Anyhow, the samples sounds great, and I'm sure that the Pro-one is a good choice.
I only have a Pulsar2, but I assume that the DSP resources will be enough for the Pro-one ...

I assume I will go for the Matrox alternative, as I don't know any other card that support more than 2 monitors.

According to Matrox website , the P750 is almost twice the price of the P650 and still the P750 doesn't support triple DVI-out (only triple RGB-out according to Matrox website ).

I think I need a gfx-card that can support at least 3 monitors, as I assume that I will have more than 2 monitors within the next few years.

If you look at the following studio (which I assume is some of yours as it is equiped with a lot of CW stuff):

I wonder where all the 15 Sharcs are placed on the Scope/SRB/PowerPulsar boards?
When I look at the following picture I can only see 8 of them:

Or are they stacked on top of eachother (2*8 = 16 ...) ?.
