Thanks for your answer. The problem is that I have a buyer in this very moment that won't be interested for more than a couple of weeks. And I also really need a computer that supports bigger disks than 120 gig. Buying more ram is maybe a solution but I still need to pay a big load of money for just ...

I can't afford a separate DAW system. It's a little embarrasing. But I can assure you that 120 gb isn't even near the amount of hd memory I need for recordings, samples and programs. Maybe 240 gb's for the music related stuff and the same amount of memory for the rest.

Edit:
Oops I didn't get the ...

That was a fast reply!
Hmmm, an external firewire drive, you say.. Connected to a USB 2.0 connector or to an actual firewire connector? Would it decrease the risk of problems? What are benefits of your solution? Buying a s-ata disk is much cheaper so I would appreciate an explaination.

My mobo doesn't support disks larger than 120 gb but I need more space, much more space. My friend wants to sell me a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 200GB S-ATA together with a one port S-ATA controller (PCI) for quite a good price. Do you think my mobo can handle it without PCI overflows or other ...

I have never bought anything this expensive from internernet before. I am scared

Soulseek rules! Especially if you're into electronical music. I think Soulseek is the best filesharing program so far.

Also, check out Direct Connect++! The program allows you to access multiple hubs at the same time. The program is much better than the original from neomodus.

How about Asus P4S8X?
There's an article, DDR 400 kills rambus,? about this chipset at Tom's hardware. It actually beats rambus memory at some of the tests.

Stability is very important as well as price, features and "overclockability".

I have got some very good replys to my previous topic from which I learned that Asus is the way to go.

I have checked out a lot of Asus mobos but I am just getting more and more confused. I really don't know what to ...

Why? Do these features increase the risk for PCI overload?

I asked the same question at the community of Tom's Hardware and I got this answer from Crashman:

"The Gigabyte GA-8IHXP has better technology (in the form of the ICH4 southbridge) and better features than the P5T533-C.

Forget DDR400/DDR533 competing with PC1200, DDR400 isn't available at Cas2 ...

I am considering buying a Intel Pentium IV 2.40Ghz socket 478 Northwood 533FSB CPU and I really could use some advice on what motherboard to buy.

I think I will use RDRAM PC1020/1200 and my "old" Creamware Powersampler card. OS: Windows XP and Windows 2000SE. Apps: mostly Cubase SX, Gigasampler ...
