Thanks for the insight.

I would hire someone (faster and less rick) but don't know my options. I'm just a hack (used to program PCs in the early 90s... hobbiest for music/indy films) -- day job is management consulting.

Has anyone had experience with http://www.geeksoncall.com ?

They probably don ...

Hello all,

Over the holidays I let relatives use my PC for checking email... and now have a toolbar installed (spyware) and latency is worse. Stupid, I know.

I think it would be beneficial to do a complete re-install: O/S, Cubase, instruments, etc.

However, I am worried about the licenses and ...

I have purchased Translator, but often have the issue that "sample not found" after the translation from Akai to STS.

Has anyone else had this issue? Perhaps I'm doing something wrong...

Thanks,
Jeff

I'm not using a Mac, but I can comment on my experience with ChickenSys.

I have tried to use the "bulk" translation (of an entire CD) but the resulting .sts always give a "sample not sound" error that you refer to.

Unfortunate, because this requires manual fixes... that defeats the reason why I ...

Quick Q,

I saw on another thread that some PlanetZ people had sent John some drum samples (Roland and Oberheim).

Do these come with RD Drum now?

Thanks,
Jeff

FYI - I've read the manual(s). I've read all the posts here on Scope projects. I'm *close*. It's probably something simple...

In Cubase SX I can record MIDI fine, but not Audio. I think the problem is either ASIO settings in SX, or the Scope project audio routings. Probably needs just a few mouse ...

I've imported a number of Akai CDs (not pirated -- originals) into STS format.

However, I frequently get an error message that the samples cannot be found. Sometimes the samples are not there, but sometimes they are there!

Anyone have some guidance as to how I can be most successful with the ...

I just set up my new Pulsar-based DAW from Infinite Vortex. (Great product, great service... but that's another thread).

I'm able to use the samples that came with Pulsar on CD -- just copied to SPF/Samples, right click and load into STS-3000.

I tried to do that with a few Akai CDs (purchased, not ...

I have called Infinite Vortex already -- they said that they don't make pre-fab Creamware DAWs anymore. If anyone else has had a good experience with a company, please let me know.

Thanks,

Christmas present to myself: replace an old Cakewalk/Soundblaster crappy DAW with a new Pulsar machine.

I've heard conflicting advice for hobbiests like myself (music is a weekend addiction rather than full-time job). Some claim that Pulsar is tricky to get right, so get a pre-fab DAW. Other say Do ...

subhuman,

You sure about the extra software in Pulsar II vs XTC?

This list seems to indicate otherwise:

I just checked Creamware prices on novamusic.com and am confused:

Option 1
--------
Pulsar II ADAT
24 ADAT I/O
6 DSPs
$1100

Option 2
--------
Luna II, ADAT expansion, and Pulsar XTC
24 ADAT I/O (plus 2 analog I/O)
9 DSPs
$330 (Luna) + $170 (ADAT) + $770 (XTC) = $1270

So, for the paltry sum of ...

I have the Luna card already and would like to upgrade to "Pulsar". However, I'm happy with the I/O -- I just want more effects and synths (plus additional SHARC DSPs).

If I add an XTC card, will Creamware treat the DSPs as one resource (integrated), or two separate resources? Or, do I need to ...
