thanks astroman, thats great. so its really a crappy shit of program ;-)
funny, I didn't realise the reason for the "loading til the end" despite of an error-message (to show the ad regardless what happens, haha).
ok astroman, you might have already forgotten the name, but to be on the shure side ...

Re: SFP-crash after startup when starting explorer
it's impressive that with the help of the people of this forum even the strangest problems can be solved bit by bit!
thanks astroman, that solution should have been obvious but didn't cross my mind before

Re: SFP-crash after startup when starting explorer
ok, as i could only disable the whole usb2-driver in the bios, and acpi handles irq-sharing afaiu via the os, i just deactivated the two usb-controllers which are shown as shared in the device-manager (in bios still on and i still use usb2.0 on two ports (for mouse and printer), but two other ports ...

Re: SFP-crash after startup when starting explorer
ok, i did a whole lot of things to eliminate causes, since i also had several hangs in xp and also in cubase.
i updated my bios and asus-mobo-utilities, used regcure for the registry (nice effect: waveshell-terror from cubase and didn't recognise some other plugs including the XTC-plugs any more ...

Re: SFP-crash after startup when starting explorer
@dave: ok, this seems to be going into the right direction.
i looked into the msconfig, and i think there might be some motherboard-apps which start themselves in the background which could be disturbing the startup. since i don't know what each of these does, i'll try out deactivating them one by ...

Re: Direct - Button switch-necessity - SOMEHOW SOLVED ;-)
stardust, thank you so much, you did it!
i knew about the difference, but your post let me think it over.
i thought there is only 1 setting for the order of the cards, applying to both modes (sfp and xtc).
that was the reason i postet only the picture of the sfp-ulli-setting.

Re: SFP-crash after startup when starting explorer
just tried it out, but that wasn't the reason.
I have the startup running at the moment, after manually opening it. besides, i saved the startup also as the default project.
if i wouldn't try to start explorer or right-click the start-button in the task-bar, the system wouldn't crash anyway. it's ...

SFP-crash after startup when starting explorer - SOLVED!
I reinstalled SFP4.5 on a new DAW (see signature).
After starting the computer (Win XP SP3, loads SFP in hidden mode - i changed the registry-entry therefore by adding the -s commandlinswitch) the following happens:

Re: Direct - Button switch-necessity - any "workaround"?
wow, that was really helpful now, the19thbear!
it was not a write-error and I got the same messages again:
http://scythoior.com/pics/asio-error.gif
it seems scope had set the xtc-mode-latency automatically to the highest value (about 24ms), independent of my ULLI-setting 7ms:

Re: Direct - Button switch-necessity - any "workaround"?
Add the following entry into your /SFP/App/Bin/Cset.ini under item
[XTC-config]:
intBlkSize=x
that was exactly what i tried before. as i mentioned, the result was an error-message at the next start, something like iirc:
"there is an error in the cset.ini, please remove the entry intBlkSize=x ...

Re: Direct - Button switch-necessity - any "workaround"?
Thanks for the hint.
At the moment my ULLI-Setting is at 7ms (44,1Khz). I tried to set a separate latency in this .ini-file for XTC, but got an error-message explicitely saying that I have to remove that entry (where I set the buffersize).
Cubase shows me a latency of 24ms in the devices-tab ...

Direct - Button switch-necessity - SOMEHOW SOLVED ;-)
I recently set up my new DAW, this time enabled the XTC-Mode, which I did not use before.
Had some troubles, but finally everything works fine now.
Now my question (maybe I just overlook something, help would be appreciated):
