Hi there,

Thanks for your contributions. As we all agree, control interface is important, but that doesn't mean PM is limited. It means PM is limitLESS and needs be unleashed under a control interface that can be easily understood by most members of the music community. Academics have a special ...

Refreshing answer, dear subhuman. I have noticed that the Tech Support guys (Rembert Gantke in person, who mailed me a link to a SPF beta!) are quite keen on testing Pulsar behaviour with Dual CPU systems...on our own skin!

I have spend 5 days (five!), daytiem and late nights trying to set up a ...

Hi guys,
Just a quick thought, in desperate need for peer feedback. How quick and effective do you think CW tech support is?

As you may have read elsewhere, I haven't been able to configure and run my Pulsar II on my current Dual Ahtlon MP rig. I have tried calling in several times and all I was ...

Hi eliam,

thanks for the interesting posts. I do agree with you to some extent. Comparing physical modeling and sampling and saying one is better than the other is to me like saying that photorealistic 3D animation (which, like PM, is indeed approaching sense-fouling perfection) is better than ...

Not quite hard-coded, actually. Each synth is implemented as a class but, if you examine the source structure, you will see it does call sub-classes. To leave the programming paradigm, each synth is a module that calls a structure of sub-modules. In case of a flute, filters, non-linear excitator and ...

Hi,
I am impressed myself, that my mention of the STK stirred up so much interest  In the more general sense, STK is a quintessential modular synthesis system. Sort of Modular 2 in C++ (not Modula 2 ) )

The URL below is where you can download the latest version and try it out. It's a ...

Hi,
True, J.O. Smith's algorithms are patented but the very fact that physical modeling was born out of academic research means the digital waveguide approach (the most computational effective and the only one feasible for realtime polyphonic synthesis on standard class computers) is free and open ...

What you're saying is: keep the Pulsar in the box (in my Thunder K7 rig, it's totally useless) and save for a computer which could make her "happier"...

Am I really left with no other option?

I would really like to say that Physical Modeling is the "next big thing" in sound synthesis and will win over sampling, subtractive etc. Reality is, Yamaha did a wonderful implementation of several acoustic instruments on the VL1 series but the audience was probably not "ready" to that degree of ...

Fair question. The upcoming Noah will feature the first physical modeling plug-in of acoustic instruments (plucked string).
Any news if this plugin will be available on the Pulsar/Scope card platforms?
And, better still, any information as to whether physical modeling plug-ins of wind or percussive ...

Thanks for the reply, subhuman. I had my Thunder K7 because that was the first system to support Ahtlon MP. I thought that would help with VST in Advanced MP mode and I was right. What I didn't know was that Pulsar becomes a donkey when used on the same system.

Frankly, I don't see all those ...

Thanks for your reply, subhuman. Frankly, being that my only PC, I would have stuffed a couple of LAN cards and a SCSI controller anyway, thus making not so much of a difference from the all-in-one box that is the Thunder K7.

I would prefer thinking that, being your Tiger MP based on the same ...

Hi Pulsar People,
Supposing Creamware are not going to make the Pulsar line compatible with Dual CPU system any time soon, a simple question:

What's the simplest, most cost-effective and modern single-CPU system one can buy and dedicate as a "Pulsar shell" (what a scary term!)?

I may even be ...

Sorry atomic, maybe I am missing something but I couldn't find subhuman's "miraculous" setup in the section you mention. I can see subhuman has a single-CPU P4 system, although he did mention about having the Tiger MP in the other post.

I might be just dumbened by distress & lack of sleep (due to ...

Hi, thanks for your help.

There must be a solution...I can't just shut one CPU down, that would affect performance of all the other software, unless I create a special boot partition for the Pulsar only. I would like to use Pulsar with VST, which I have already appreciated as a Dual CPU juggler ...

Hi all,
I have found this forum refreshing, as I was able to find users with the same problems as mine. I have bought a Pulsar 2 only a few days ago, only to find that my Dual Athlon MP system wouldn't make my life a nightmare.
Not only do I get the "common core" of issues (copy protection pop-ups ...
