Do not use VDAT in 16 bit mode, unless you are recording everything in one go. It adds a 1000+ sample delay when recording in 16 bit. Your timing will suffer greatly, if you are overdubbing.

yet I don't think it's related to the bitdepth - it's probably one of the (possibly default) controller settings related to pre-roll and such stuff.
I've not yet finished my Adat studies... so it's just a suspect.
Anyway it's good you mention it - in fact I never overdub, I just record and edit in another app, but indeed 16 bit.

To test it, make a loop. You have a sound (any sound) on track 1 in the ADAT. Record that back to into the ADAT at different bit depths. You may loop it out through the analog out and in or use Wolf's device for it (I tested it with an analog loop). Open the files in your audio editor and see for yourself.
